Scout Report
When a 2028 prospect already has a D1 offer as an underclassman, you pay attention.
Background
The Charlotte native has been developing his craft at Myers Park High School, one of North Carolina's premier basketball programs. Playing alongside highly-ranked 2027 forward Thomas Vickery has given Awosanya plenty of exposure to high-level competition. His early recruitment suggests the coaching staff has done a solid job getting him in front of college eyes.
Playing Style
At 6-5, Awosanya has the frame to play multiple positions but projects best as a small forward who can stretch the floor. His length gives him versatility on defense, and he's shown flashes of being able to guard multiple spots. The shot needs consistency, but the mechanics look clean enough to develop into a reliable weapon. What catches your eye is his basketball IQ - he makes the right read more often than not and doesn't force bad shots.
Recruitment
Iona getting in early tells you they see something special in his development trajectory. Being a 2028 prospect with any D1 offer is impressive, and more schools will likely jump in as he continues to fill out physically. If he keeps progressing at this rate, mid-major programs will be circling heavily by his junior year.
