DJ Hawkins
#109Uncommitted
Scout Report
When your practice squad can beat most high school varsities, you know you're watching something special unfold in Oakdale.
Background
DJ Hawkins brings serious athletic genes from his Oakdale, CT roots, with father Dorrell and siblings all carrying the family tradition forward. The 6-7 forward landed at St. Thomas More, where he's become part of one of the most loaded prep rosters in recent memory. Playing alongside future Alabama big man London Jemison and fellow top-50 recruit Patrick Otey has accelerated his development considerably.
Playing Style
Hawkins plays the modern small forward role with legitimate versatility on both ends. His length creates problems in passing lanes and he's developing into a solid weak-side shot blocker. Offensively, he's still finding his identity but shows flashes of being able to stretch the floor and attack closeouts effectively. The motor runs hot and he competes on every possession, though his handle needs refinement before he can consistently create his own shot at the next level.
Recruitment
Syracuse, West Virginia, and Saint Louis have already extended offers, with his #109 national ranking likely to climb as he continues developing alongside elite competition. The combination of size, athleticism, and basketball IQ should attract more high-major attention throughout his junior campaign. His ceiling depends largely on offensive skill development, but the foundation is absolutely there for a solid college career.
