Background
Omar Essam landed at Long Island Lutheran, one of the premier prep programs on the East Coast. The 2027 big man finds himself in elite company daily, practicing against and alongside some of the top prospects in the country. LuHi has become his basketball laboratory.
Playing Style
Essam's frame immediately catches your eye, but he's still growing into that 6-11 body. He shows flashes of interior presence around the rim and can alter shots when he stays disciplined. His footwork needs refinement, especially in the post where he can get caught flat-footed against quicker defenders. The motor runs inconsistent right now - some possessions he's active and engaged, others he drifts. Playing with elite talent daily should accelerate his development, but he needs to add strength and improve his hands to maximize his potential.
Recruitment
No reported offers yet, which isn't surprising for a 2027 prospect still developing his game. The LuHi connection and exposure should help him get on more radars as he continues to grow. His ceiling remains intriguing if he can put together the physical and mental pieces.
