Destin Mbarushimana
Uncommitted
Scout Report
When you're rolling with Lincoln Vinson and Avery Moses in one of the country's top prep programs, you better bring something special to the table.
Background
Mbarushimana landed at Sunrise Christian Academy, the Kansas powerhouse that's become a pipeline for high-major talent. Playing in that environment against elite competition daily has accelerated his development. The 2027 guard is getting seasoned alongside some serious talent in what amounts to a college-level training ground.
Playing Style
At 6-0, Mbarushimana brings solid size for a shooting guard with the versatility to slide between both backcourt spots when needed. His best asset right now is his basketball IQ - he reads the game well and doesn't force bad shots or decisions. The stroke is developing nicely, though he needs to become more consistent from three-point range to really separate himself. His handle is functional but could use refinement if he wants to create his own shot at higher levels. Defensively, he competes hard and uses his length well, but needs to add strength to handle physical guards.
Recruitment
The offer sheet is still blank, but that's not uncommon for 2027 prospects this early in the cycle. Playing at Sunrise Christian gives him automatic exposure to college coaches who frequent the program. If he continues developing his perimeter shooting and becomes more aggressive looking for his own offense, the phone should start ringing by next summer.
