Scout Report
When a 5-11 center can consistently knock down jumpers, you've got something different on your hands.
Background
Christian Matos landed at Sunrise Christian Academy, one of the premier prep programs in the country. The 2027 big man is getting seasoned playing alongside some elite talent, including top-150 prospects Lincoln Vinson and Avery Moses. He's also learning from Ivan Juric, a Penn State commit who brings veteran leadership to the frontcourt.
Playing Style
Matos brings a skill set that's becoming essential for modern bigs - he can shoot the basketball. His range extends beyond the arc, which creates serious spacing issues for opposing defenses. At 5-11, he's undersized for the center position, which means he'll need to continue developing his physicality and rebounding instincts. The shot is legitimate, but he'll need to prove he can bang with bigger bodies in the paint and hold his own defensively against true post players.
Recruitment
No reported offers yet, but that's typical for 2027 prospects still developing their games. Playing at Sunrise Christian gives him incredible exposure, and if the shooting continues to improve, college coaches will take notice. His ceiling depends largely on how much he can add to his frame and whether he can expand his game beyond just shooting.
