Scout Report

Standing 6-4 with combo guard skills, this rising prospect from Southern California is beginning to make waves on the national recruiting scene.

Background

Hailing from Northridge, California, Josiah Nance has found his basketball home at Notre Dame High School. He's part of an impressive Knights program that features multiple Division I commits, including Saint Mary's-bound wing Dillan Shaw and San Diego State commit Tae Simmons. This high-level competition daily has accelerated his development as he continues to refine his craft on one of California's most talented rosters.

Playing Style

Nance possesses an intriguing blend of size and guard skills that makes him a versatile threat on both ends of the floor. At 6-4, he has the length to play multiple positions while maintaining the ball-handling and court vision expected from a combo guard. His ability to see over smaller defenders creates advantages in both scoring and playmaking situations. While still developing consistency in his outside shooting, Nance shows flashes of being able to score from all three levels and has the physical tools to become a lockdown defender at the next level.

Recruitment

Currently ranked #97 nationally in the 2027 class, Nance has yet to receive his first Division I offer but that figures to change as his junior season progresses. His combination of size, skill, and upside projects him as a potential mid-major recruit with the ceiling to attract high-major attention if he continues his trajectory. Playing alongside established Division I commits should only help showcase his abilities to college coaches.
