Mississippi State
Scout Report
Standing 6-9 in the paint at one of prep basketball's most elite programs, this big man from the Gateway City has already secured his future with an SEC commitment.
Background
Hailing from Saint Louis, Missouri, Tristan Reed made the move to Link Academy to compete at the highest level of prep basketball. The center finds himself in an incredibly talented frontcourt alongside fellow big man Ethan Taylor, who is also ranked in the top 30 nationally and committed to Michigan State. Reed's development has accelerated playing alongside elite talent including top-20 point guard Davion Thompson and Oregon-bound forward Tajh Ariza.
Playing Style
Reed brings legitimate size and length to the center position at 6-9, with the physical tools to anchor a defense at the next level. His presence in the paint provides rim protection capabilities while his developing offensive skill set shows promise in the post. Playing at Link Academy has exposed him to high-level competition daily, helping refine his understanding of positioning and timing on both ends of the floor. Reed's ability to rebound and alter shots gives him a foundation to build upon as he continues developing his offensive repertoire.
Recruitment
With nine Division I offers from major programs including Ohio State, Michigan State, Maryland, Iowa, and Kansas State, Reed generated significant interest before committing to Mississippi State. His recruitment reflected his potential as a legitimate SEC-caliber center who can contribute immediately in the paint. The Bulldogs secured a player with the size and upside to develop into a cornerstone piece in their frontcourt rotation.
