Scout Report

When a top-15 recruit from Benin bypasses the traditional recruiting circus and enrolls early at Baylor, you pay attention.

Background

Tounde Yessoufou made the move from Benin to St Joseph, where he developed into one of the premier wings in the 2025 class. Playing alongside future Stanford guard Julius Price and rising 2028 prospect Aidan Carter, he had quality teammates to push him daily. The Bears won the recruitment battle over Texas, UConn, Cal, and Purdue for his services.

Playing Style

At 6-6, Yessoufou brings legitimate size and length to the wing position with the frame to add strength as he matures in college. His international background shows in his basketball IQ and fundamentals - he understands spacing and makes smart reads in halfcourt sets. The athleticism is there to defend multiple positions and finish above the rim in transition. Still needs to develop a more consistent perimeter shot and improve his handle against elite college pressure, but the foundation is solid for Scott Drew's system.

Recruitment

Already enrolled and suiting up for Baylor as a freshman, bypassing his senior high school season. The early jump to college basketball will test his readiness, but landing at #13 nationally suggests he has the talent to contribute right away. Drew has a track record with international players, making this a smart fit.
